Room Rates and Hire Fees
At Te Mako your hire fees are dependent on what you are planning on using the space for.
We have three different categories that we use to determine this.
Commercial
Commercial groups and events pay full price.
Private
Private groups and events pay at a slightly discounted price.
Community
Community groups and events pay at a significantly discounted price.
We have a tiered pricing system to help ensure that the center is making enough to remain self sufficient and cover our overhead costs, while still keeping the facilities affordable to community groups.
We acknowledge that every situation is different so consider rates on a case by case basis. We may consider further discounts for long term recurring bookings.
Commercial Room Rates
Commercial booking rates generally apply for for-profit businesses or people in business where GST invoicing is required.
Other examples could be bookings made by central or local government, Tertiary education providers (Crown or PTE), or private medical activities.

Private Function Rates
Private function rates generally apply to event or groups that are invite-only and not open to the general public. Examples of these could be family or private functions such as birthday parties or graduation ceremonies.
Other examples that could be considered under private rates include community medical or therapeutic services, Faith groups, bookings made by integrated, charter, or private schools, and political events.

Community Room Rates
Community room rates generally apply to events and groups that are open to the public such as not-for-profit community or volunteer groups. This could also include events or groups who are funded by grants such as Creative Communities or through Hutt City Council.
Other examples that could be considered under community rates include 'business as usual', governance, or management meetings for political parties, community groups, state schools, or no-fee community health inicitives.

Bonds and other charges
The estimated booking rates above are for bookings made within the opening hours for Te Mako: Monday to Friday 9:30am - 5:30pm; Saturday 9:00-3:00pm. Additional costs that may be relevant to your group or event are listed below.
Please note that all estimated booking rates are inclusive of GST.
Outside Staff Hours Fee
Additional $5 an hour.
Bookings outside our opening hours may include an additional $5 per hour in case staff are needed.
General Bond
$100 (staffed hours) or $200 (after hours)
We may request a bond amount be paid depending on the nature of your booking. This is fully refundable, unless we need to deduct any amount to cover damages, cleaning, or other costs related to your event.
Community Kitchen Bond
$150 (staffed hours) or $200 (after hours)
For those using the community kitchen, we may request a bond be paid for your booking. This is fully refundable unless we need to deduct any amount to cover damages, cleaning, or other costs related to your event.
Alcohol Bond
$200
If you are planning on selling/providing alcohol, or letting your guests BYO for your event, then you need to check your responsibilities with Hutt City Council and advise them accordingly.
All bookings including alcohol required this bond be paid even if other bonds are requested. This is fully refundable, unless we need to deduct any amount to cover damages, cleaning, or other costs related to your event.
Cleaning Fee (pro rata)
$100/hr or $150/hr for kitchen hire
We ask bookings with more than one bags worth of rubbish please take their rubbish with them, and clean up after their event. If additional cleaning is required after your event in order to bring it back up to standard this fee will either be deducted from your bond prior to refund or you will be invoiced directly.
