Te Mako
What was previously the iconic post office building in the Naenae shopping mall is now a community center built to support the needs of our local groups and communities, with a few callbacks to its heritage.
Located at 27 Hillary Court, Naenae, Te Mako opened our doors on MÄtariki, 29th June 2024. Plans were initially to build meeting rooms into the Naenae Pool as part of a Neighbourhood Hub, but Team Naenae Trust and other community led advocacy groups had a vision for a separate facility that focuses on uplifting and supporting our community. After a period of consultation with the local community to ensure a facility was built that met their needs, Te Mako was born.
With two meeting rooms, two large activity spaces, and a commercial grade community kitchen, Te Mako is built with accessibility in mind. The facility can be hired by anyone wishing to utilise the space to support their community or host a public, private, or commercial event.
Pop in and get a tour of our spaces and to see a range of new, returning, and reconstructed artworks taken from the Post Office before it's demolish. Staff are always happy to show you what facilities we have to offer and discuss anything you may need to make your event perfect.
Our prices vary depending on the nature of your booking, with the lowest fees reserved for community and public facing groups.
