Community Kitchen

Our large, commercial grade kitchen facilities are available for hire.

Examples of activities that could be held in this space are cooking classes, catering for an event, or group cooking with your whānau to take home.

Room Features Include:

Large amounts of bench preparation space, including a low bench for seated persons, wheelchair users or children.
Industrial dishwasher.
Oven and stove.
Freestanding large fridge and freezer.

Crockery and cutlery along with basic food prep equipment such as pots, pans, and chopping boards.
Back door access (with swipe card) for easy drop off of supplies via car.
Bench top servery with automatic rolling door. This connects to our activity space Kahikatea.
All our rooms have air conditioning and neutral temperature top down lighting.

Dining Spaces

If people are eating as part of your group/event it is generally advised to book a room for them to do this in as there is no dining space in the kitchen. Kahikatea (Activity room 1) connects to the kitchen via a countertop servery and will need to be booked separately, otherwise you can easily get to Raupo 1 and 2 (our meeting rooms) from the kitchen too.

Food Safety Requirements

Please bear in mind that Te Mako is not a ‘registered kitchen’ with HCC. If you are providing or selling food to the public you’ll need to contact Hutt City Council or NZ Food Safety at MPI to check your food safety requirements.

Estimated Hire Rates

Our prices are dependent on a number of factors, including how many rooms are booked at a time and for how long. The prices provided below are an estimate and are likely to be discounted if booked with one of our activity or meeting rooms.

We also have different prices depending on the nature of the booking and whether it is accessible to the community, a private function, or a commercial event.

Bonds and Additional Fees

If you plan on using the commercial kitchen, or you/your guests are intending to bring alcohol on site, then a refundable bond will be required.
